Wauwatosa life plan community named a top skilled nursing facility in the U.S.
Luther Manor is the only senior healthcare facility in Milwaukee to be listed among America’s Best Nursing Homes 2021, according to an annual survey produced by Newsweek magazine.
The national news publication recognized 400 skilled nursing facilities out of more than 10,000 potential candidates across 20 states. The criteria focused on performance data, peer recommendations, and the protocol and response measures put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“In the face of a global pandemic, our staff implemented an action plan that has helped curb the spread of COVID-19 and undoubtedly saved countless lives,” says Stephanie Chedid, president & CEO of Luther Manor. “It took the understanding of families, support from countless friends and community members, close work with the Wauwatosa Department of Health and the tireless commitment of every Luther Manor employee. I couldn’t be prouder of our entire team who shares in this prestigious honor.”
Luther Manor developed one of the first COVID Specialty Care units in the state to assist seniors affected by the virus in their recovery helping free-up needed hospital beds. Luther Manor’s clinical team is a member of Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin’s Care Coalition for post-acute providers, and is active in developing joint best practices and clinical pathways to improve patient outcomes.
“Our organization is proud to call Luther Manor a long-term partner and congratulate them on their well-deserved recognition,” said Diane Eln, Vice President, Post-Acute Care, Froedtert Health. “Our organizations share a commitment to connecting and caring for the communities we serve and take pride in working together to providing enhanced patient care for both our patients and the residents of Luther Manor.”
Luther Manor is the only Continuum of Care facility in Wisconsin named in the survey and ranks fourth in the state among best nursing homes.
John Sauer, President and CEO of LeadingAge Wisconsin, a statewide association of mission-driven long-term care organizations adds, “Luther Manor’s recent national recognition validates the organization’s commitment to resident and community service. The greater community should be comforted knowing this organization is working tirelessly to support older adults, particularly during these challenging times.”
