As the year draws to a close, Luther Manor celebrates the near completion of our two-year, $12 million Project Revitalization. This transformative initiative is a testament to our unwavering faith-based mission of enriching the lives of older adults. By breathing new life into our campus and facilities, Luther Manor ensures a welcoming, safe and vibrant Life Plan community for current and future residents, their families and staff.
For over six decades, Luther Manor has served as a sanctuary of care and connection for older adults across Wauwatosa, Milwaukee and surrounding areas. Our mission — sharing God’s love through service and compassion — continues to guide every decision we make. Project Revitalization is a shining example of this commitment, demonstrating how faith and community can come together to create something extraordinary.
A Year of Remarkable Progress
This year marked significant strides in transforming Luther Manor’s 29-acre parklike campus. Residents and visitors will now be welcomed with modern, functional designs that elevate aesthetics and accessibility.
Our old Terrace entrance is now a thing of the past, replaced by a stunning, new covered entry featuring decorative concrete and a sleek steel structure. Inside, the Courtyards Café and resident lounge have been beautifully refreshed, creating a warm and inviting vibe.
The dining and activity areas in the Health Care Center have also been upgraded, making them even more welcoming and functional for everyone to enjoy. We installed automatic doors at our new state-of-the-art therapy gym and relocated the salon to a more accessible area, offering residents greater independence and safety.
Our new Great Room Café is already a hub of joy and community, and it’s a favorite spot for assisted living residents and staff to gather and connect. This beautiful space, open every Thursday, serves everything from sandwiches and salads to sweet treats. Residents from our Health Care Center recently took an in-house trip to the café, enjoying ice cream while catching up with friends and neighbors.
Over in The Courtyards in Wauwatosa assisted living area is the newly revamped courtyard, Magnolia Garden. This serene outdoor retreat features vibrant new plantings, a charming arbor, and refreshed sidewalks and patios, creating the perfect space for residents to relax and connect with nature.
A significant milestone in Project Revitalization took place last summer with the grand opening of The Gardens, marking a new chapter in memory care. Thoughtfully designed to provide person-centered support for residents living with memory impairment, Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia, The Gardens at Luther Manor creates a warm and enriching home environment. Complementing this is The Sanctuary, an outdoor therapeutic garden where residents can find peace and tranquility in nature.
Milestone Metamorphosis Wows Residents and Visitors
The changes at Luther Manor have been met with an outpouring of enthusiasm, with residents, staff and community members sharing their excitement on our Facebook page. The heartfelt responses from those who live here and others with strong ties to our community highlight just how meaningful Project Revitalization has been for everyone involved.
“It looks impressive,” said Sabina. “The combination of modern design and functionality will surely enhance the living experience for residents.” Dorothy echoed this excitement, saying, “Awesome job! I can’t wait to see the finished product.” The transformation holds a special significance for Kathy, who worked in The Courtyards from 1989 to 2009. “It looks great!” she said, reflecting on the renovated space.
Faith in Action
What sets Luther Manor apart is our faith-based approach to service. Every decision, from design to implementation, reflects our belief in the dignity and worth of every individual. Whether it’s creating places for community gatherings, enhancing accessibility or providing state-of-the-art care for those with memory impairment, our actions are guided by a higher purpose.
This spirit of giving extends beyond physical renovations. Our community is built on relationships — between residents, staff and volunteers — and it’s these connections that bring our mission to life.
As we prepare to welcome a fully revitalized Luther Manor, we invite you to help us make a difference in other’s lives. We’re looking for volunteers to lend their time and smiles in the Great Room Café. Whether you’re serving up coffee, preparing a yogurt parfait or simply sharing a kind word, your contribution will have a lasting impact.
The success of Project Revitalization is a testament to what we can accomplish together as a community of faith. From improved facilities to enriched lives, these changes reflect our commitment to making Luther Manor a place of comfort, care and connection for generations to come.
